Interesting Note:
Average annual rainfall in San Juan Capistrano, CA is 13” (Where this was installed - below)
1000 families with 3 boxes will save 2,925,000 gallons of water annually.

Before Rain Box rain catchment system installation This home has two roofs coming together in a valley. No existing rain gutter system.  The result of this has been extensive water damage to surrounding wood on the door frame and the door warping itself.  (Rain may still hit the door and wood but now it won't be as much.)
Before Rain Box rain catchment system installation From another angle you can see where the valley is right above the doorway.
Water damage

As you can see by this door, the years of water splashing on the door has warped and rotted the wood.*

With the new rain gutter system diverting the water into the SYM Living rain box, this home owner will receive the added benefit of diverting the waterfall and accumulation of water outside his door.*

Installation of Rain Catchment Rain box at SYM Living.com

This shows the installed new vinyl rain gutter system to capture the rain from the valley run off.  We place the Rain Box there to help align where the rain gutters would come down.

Rain Box Rain catchment system from SYM Living We placed the first box on 3 2"x3" pieces of wood laid across 3 bricks.
Connecting the Rain Box The Rain Box requires the installer to cut at least one 1 1/2" hole for either the over flow fitting or to connect to an additional Rain Box to expand your rain storage and rain collection abilities.
Connect the Rain Box connecting hose Connect the Rain Box expansion hose to connect to the other Rain Box.  (Don't forget to drill the holes in the new Rain Box).  Tighten the hose clamp.
Connecting the additional Rain Box rain catchment, storage system Next you slide the second Rain Box into the hose next to the existing Rain Box.  Tighten the hose clamp.
Thread the hose bib We recommend you install the included hose bib with teflon tape to ensure a good leak proof seal.
Installing the hose bib into the rain box water collection device Screw in the included hose bib.  You can either connect a hose for gravity feed watering or place a watering can underneath for using the water for garden watering.
2 Rain Box installation for a total of 150 Gallons of water storage/rain catchment

Here is a photo of the double Rain Box installation.  The pipe on the left can be cut and angled for diverting the over flow water to the direction or location you desire.

This system will catch and store up to 150 gallons of rain water.  Add one more for 225 gallons of storage.  You also have the ability of placing in other locations for increased storage. Most homes have at least 3 locations for rain gutter down spouts.

water filling the Rain Box

Here you can see a small flow of water heading right into the 500 micron 3M filter.  And that's it.  This installation took about 1 hour because of no existing down spout.  Most installations can be done within 1/2 hour.  Everything you need is delivered to your door. It is completely feasible to do the installation with one person.
